This morning we're experiencing intermittent network outages due to an outbound denial of service (DOS) attack.

We're in the process of tracking the source and shutting it down.

Found the source of the trouble and shut it down.

It was a VPS that had their root password compromised and a root kit installed. This was likely due to poor password practices on the part of the user, an unfortunately common issue.

We've also applied bandwidth limits to the node to ensure this type of issue is squelched permanently.
