I did the automatic install of osCommerce on a site on a OHP server and on bottom of the cart index page get the message:

Warning: session_write_close(): Your script possibly relies on a session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3. Please be advised that the session extension does not consider global variables as a source of data, unless register_globals is enabled. You can disable this functionality and this warning by setting session.bug_compat_42 or session.bug_compat_warn to off, respectively. in /home/httpd/vhosts/my-domain.com/subdomains/shop/httpdocs/osCommerce/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 110

line 110 is : return session_write_close();

Nothing I have done seems to eliminate the message.

I have made the necessary changes to the php.ini file to fix that error.

If you get a "The sessions directory does not exist: /tmp" error at the top of the osCommerce page you will need to modify the httpdocs/osCommerce/includes/configure.php for that site.

Change the line:

       define('STORE_SESSIONS', '');

       define('STORE_SESSIONS', 'mysql');
